Cotton is a natural vegetable fibre and comes from the seed hairs of the cotton plant. As a fabric it is absorbent and comfortable to wear in hot weather; irons well; moth-safe; doesn't produce static. It is biodegradable, however, in terms of sustainability has a number of questions given its heavy use of water and pesticides. Organic Cotton is the modern day alternative due to its use of natural systems which make it far more sustainable as a fibre.
