Talented Sydney Fashion Designer Anya Hurwood, is a local designer who recently submitted her entry into the - General Pants X Sustainable Textile Supply Chain's- Denim Redesign competition.
While judging is still underway we wanted to give you a sneak peak into the before and after photographs for Anya's entry into the Denim Redesign competition. An opportunity to share some inspiration on upcycling pre-loved clothing.
The General Pants x STSC partnership kicked-off with General Pants calling for a Denim Amnesty across Australia. Inviting their customer's to return their unwanted denim back to General Pants so that they could be redesigned for a second life.
In late May, our Founder Mira and Partnership Manager Dennis accompanied Anya to the offices of STSC where the boxes of returned denim from General Pant's customers were being stored.
We also invited our friend and brilliant photographer Marco Serventi to join us and capture the start of Anya's Denim Redesign journey where she selected a few denim pieces for the redesign project from the many boxes of denim jeans received from General Pant's Denim Amnesty campaign.
We would like to thank Alison Jose, Founder of Sustainable Textile Supply Chain (STSC) for the invitation to her shownroom for this experience. STSC have an incredible range of 100% natural, ethical and sustainable wholesale fabrics, we encourage you to more learn about STSC by visiting their website.
The clothing Anya is wearing are her own jacket designs and refashioned denim jeans with hardware. For a custom design or denim redesign consultation with Anya Hurwood book an online appointment.
This is a photographic sneak peak of Anya's refashioned denim dress made from the pre-loved denim jeans collected at STSC's shownroom.
Simply Stunning, Chic and totally unique - we are amazed by Anya's design inspiration and artisan maker talents.
While we wait for the judging to be finalised and announcements to be made in the coming weeks, we look forward to introducing you to Anya and sharing with you more details behind her design inspiration soon - in our upcoming journal article "In Conversation with Anya Hurwood".
